Online Tutorials


T his section provides tutorials about the science and technology of the Origins program. Click on the name of the tutorial to go directly to it. After perusing our tutorial site, we'd likewise appreciate your comments.


This tutorial follows the 15-billion-year-long history of the Universe. Starting with the Big Bang, we sequentially discuss: Element formation in stars, Planetary system formation, Forming Earth-like planets, and Forming Jupiter-like planets. We conclude by looking at the the Chemistry of Life.


This section provides tutorials about the science and technology of the Origins program. Follow the explanation of how we: look for life outside our own solar system, indirectly detect and image planets, and how we hope to build observatories that will allow us to see if those planets can support life.
